At Adept GRP Cabinets, we’re proud to work on a wide variety of GRP projects – but every now and then, a collaboration comes along that feels truly special. Recently, we had the honour of teaming up with Cerebra’s Innovation Centre to create a custom-made sit ski for a child close to our hearts, Mabli, who has been diagnosed with GAND syndrome.
This project was a perfect example of what can happen when innovation, craftsmanship, and compassion come together.
The journey began at Cerebra’s Innovation Centre, where Ross Head, Innovation Centre Manager, created a custom mould designed specifically for Mabli’s needs. This mould formed the foundation of the sit ski and ensured the finished product would be supportive, safe, and tailored to her.
From there, our Sales Manager, Lukasz, dedicated his evenings and weekends to producing multiple versions of the sit ski, refining the design and ensuring it met the highest standards. His commitment to getting it just right has been incredible – and a real reflection of the care that went into this unique piece of equipment.
Before heading off to the mountains, the sit ski was also tested on the dry slopes at Pembrey, helping to ensure it performs well and is ready for real snow conditions.
The sit ski has been made from lightweight GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic), which offers major benefits for both practicality and performance:
And of course, the finishing touch: a bright pink colour, making the sit ski not only functional but also seriously stylish!
We’d like to say a huge thank you to Ross and Lukasz for working so closely together to bring this project to life. Their teamwork, dedication, and creativity have helped create something truly meaningful – a one-of-a-kind product that will help Mabli experience the joy of skiing.
Mabli is now putting the to sit skit to use on holiday with Ski 4 All Wales, an amazing organisation that helps make skiing accessible for everyone. Their team provides adaptive equipment, expert guidance, and the support needed to ensure individuals with additional needs can enjoy snow sports safely and confidently.
Thanks to organisations like Ski 4 All Wales, families can access experiences that might otherwise feel out of reach – creating unforgettable memories and giving children like Mabli the chance to enjoy the freedom and excitement of the slopes.
GAND syndrome is an extremely rare genetic condition that can affect development and day-to-day life in many ways. Families living with rare conditions often face significant challenges, including accessing specialist support, therapies, and resources. Raising awareness and supporting research into conditions like GAND syndrome is vital – and every donation, share, and conversation can make a difference.
